About Us

Granity School is set in one of the most picturesque locations, 26 kms north of Westport on the West Coast, South Island of Aotearoa. We are a full primary school (years 0-8) nestled between the beautiful native bush and the sea, with a sub-tropical climate. The roll at Granity Kura fluctuates between 30-35 students coming from the six small townships of Seddonville, Mokihinui, Hector, Ngakawau, Birchfield and Waimangaroa, as well as Granity itself. The school is situated on 2.3 hectares of land and the grounds include an adventure playground, asphalt court, playing fields and a fabulous view of the magnificent Tasman sea on our boundary with many dolphin sightings playing in the waves.
Our classrooms are north facing creating bright sunny learning environments. There is a playgroup facility located on the western end of the school building.
